NHSS VRS 10B Installer Course

What is this course?

This is the next step to becoming an installer of Vehicle Restraint Systems (VRS), building on the knowledge gained in the NHSS 10B Foundation course. It gives learners a more in-depth understanding of VRS, including CD377 and how VRS should be installed, allowing successful candidates to move onto non-proprietary or proprietary system training.

Module 2 — Terminology, performance standard, containment levels, working widths, impact severity levels
Module 3 — Terminals and transitions, system components, documentation
Module 4 — Installation, set-back, anchorages, measurements, and the Installer end-of-course test

A written theory test. If not successful, the course must be retaken.

Entry Requirements

• Must have completed the NHSS 10B Foundation course within the last 2 years
• 3 months' supervised on-site work experience is recommended
• Minimum age: 18
• Course delivered in English

Yes — within the last 2 years. 3 months of supervised on-site experience is also recommended.

How long does the certificate last?

5 years — both the Foundation and Installer courses must be retaken if the Installer certification lapses.
