NHSS VRS 10B Foundation Training Course

What is this course?

This course is the first step to becoming an installer of Vehicle Restraint Systems (VRS). It provides a basic understanding of the VRS industry and the requirements of National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS) 10B, paving the way for new recruits to the fencing industry to progress onto the 10B Installer course and further detailed training on any proprietary or non-proprietary system.

Module 3 — Terminals and transitions, system components, summary, and the Foundation end-of-course test
Module 4 — Health and safety training (welfare, first aid, fire, safe use of equipment, safe working practices), risk/prevention/control, accidents/ill-health/near misses, specific and specialised working environments, site hazards, health and environment, and a Level 1 H&S qualification test

A written multiple-choice theory test. Pass mark: 80% (9/12). Any fail means the course must be retaken.

All potential VRS labourers and installers of permanent Vehicle Restraint Systems, before proceeding onto the NHSS 10B Installer course. This course is a requirement to enable labourers and potential installers of VRS to obtain their Green FISS/CSCS card in line with NHSS 10B requirements.

2 years, provided you progress onto the 10B Installer course. If the Installer certification isn't refreshed within 5 years, the Foundation course must be retaken.
