Fire Marshal

What is this course?

This course gives employees the knowledge and confidence to act as a designated fire marshal (or fire warden) within their workplace. Delegates will learn how fires start and spread, how to reduce fire risks in daily operations, and the correct procedures for raising the alarm, using fire extinguishers safely, and coordinating a safe evacuation. The course also covers the fire marshal's legal responsibilities, conducting fire drills, and liaising with the fire service.

Renewal: there is no shorter refresher option — if certification lapses, the full course must be retaken.

FAQs

Do I need previous experience to become a fire marshal?

No prior experience is required, but delegates must be aged 16 or over.

What happens if I don't pass?

The pass mark is 24 out of 30 on the knowledge paper, plus an acceptable practical observation. There is no refresher option — if certification lapses, the full course must be retaken.

How long does the certificate last?

3 years.
