What is this course?

This nationally recognised qualification is designed for experienced construction professionals working in management roles within highways maintenance and repair. It's a Competency Based Qualification (CBQ) based on the relevant National Occupational Standards, which exist to ensure personnel working within the industry meet the required minimum standards.

  • Evaluating and confirming work methods (Level 7, 30 GLH)
  • Planning the preparation of the site for the project (Level 7, 50 GLH)
  • Monitoring project activities (Level 6, 20 GLH)
  • Ensuring that work activities and resources meet project requirements (Level 7, 50 GLH)
  • Organising, controlling, and monitoring supplies of materials (Level 5, 20 GLH)

Assessed in the workplace through evidence gathered from the candidate's day-to-day management activities. Assessment is designed to be flexible and to minimise disruption to ongoing work responsibilities.

There is no numerical pass mark — candidates must demonstrate competence against all qualification requirements, with further assessment opportunities arranged where needed.

Construction site managers, project managers, contracts managers, senior site supervisors progressing into management, and assistant site managers with significant management responsibilities — specifically within highways maintenance and repair. Also suitable for individuals seeking a recognised qualification to support their application for a CSCS Black Manager Card.
