What is this course?

Working in the fencing and construction industry gives individuals a wide range of career opportunities. This qualification is based on National Occupational Standards and enables learners to demonstrate the knowledge, understanding, and practical skills required to perform fencing operations safely and effectively in the workplace, working towards Fencing Installer status.

This qualification is made up of 9 units — 6 shared units common to both fencing diplomas, plus 3 units specific to general fencing installation. Total credit value: 44.

Assessment is carried out in the workplace through the completion of an electronic portfolio, supported by practical observation and assessment, audio evidence, witness testimonies/statements, and supporting workplace documentation.

Fencing operatives seeking a recognised industry qualification, and operatives progressing towards Fencing Installer status who require a FISS/CSCS Blue Skilled Worker Card. This qualification provides foundation learning for an apprentice starting in the industry, and successful learners can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma.
